Cabin – the interior of the plane
Cabin crew – flight attendant, steward/ess, air hostess
Cockpit
Pilot & Co-pilot/First Officer
Overhead luggage compartment
A bumpy/rough flight or a smooth flight
Turbulence
Jet lag
Overbooked/Overbooking
Cancellation
Upgrade
Stopover
Control tower
ATC = Air traffic control
ETA – estimated time of arrival
ETD – estimated time of departure
Hub (London, Paris, New York, Bangkok)

Airplane (1980) ¡Aterriza Como Puedes! (Warning! Some scenes are not politically correct!)

I can’t tell = I’m not sure, I don’t know
What is it? = What’s the matter?/What’s wrong?

(The scene takes place in an aeroplane and some of the passengers have become sick because of the onboard meals)
Craig is a doctor
Reza is a pilot

Craig: This woman has to be taken to a hospital.

Reza: A hospital! What is it?

Craig: It’s a big building with patients, but that’s not important right now. How soon can you land?

Reza: I can’t tell.

Craig: You can tell me, I’m a doctor.

Reza: No, I mean I’m just not sure.

Craig: Can’t you take a guess?

Reza: Well, not for another 2 hours.

Craig: You can’t take a guess for another 2 hours?

Reza: No, I mean we can’t land for another 2 hours.

Roger = I have received all of your transmission
Over = I have finished speaking for the moment and I am waiting for your reply.
Clearance = an authorization by ATC
Vector = heading/direction
