To sell – to buy

A sale = a purchase – more formal

Sales – 1. Plural of “a sale”; 2. sales/the sales – a limited period with special reduced prices

cold call – to telephone a prospective customer without previous contact

(buy/sell) in bulk – to buy or sell in large quantities, usually at a lower price

a lead – indication of a possible future customer

A loyal/returning customer

After-sales service – Regular maintenance (upkeep) or repair of products

To buy on credit – To get something now and pay for it later, normally with interest (some people buy ‘on impulse’) – Payment by installments/payment arrangement

Sales pitch – A sales presentation that tries to persuade someone to buy a product.

Quote/Quotation – estimation of price

Faulty goods – defective

Free trial – A product or service that is offered to customers for free for a short period of time so that they can try using it.

To submit an invoice – To send or give a bill for a purchase.

Terms of payment – Conditions of payment agreed on by the buyer and seller for goods or services.

Sales target – A goal set for a salesper son.

To close the sale – To complete the transaction, to close the deal.

To bargain/haggle – try to drive the sale price down

“To drive a hard bargain” – often used metaphorically

“The customer is always right!” – popular customer services expressions
