Cities to visit when you go to Great Britain
(England, Scotland and Wales)

London: Buckingham Palace, The British Museum, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, The Shard, the parks (Hyde Park, Regents park, Kensington Park), Campden Market, a stroll along the Thames

Edinburgh: Edinburgh is not only the capital of Scotland, but also thought by many to be its most beautiful city, if not indeed Great Britain’s most beautiful city. Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, Calton Hill (with several attractive monuments on top), Arthur’s Seat.

Manchester: Old Trafford, The Lowry (waterfront cultural complex), The Curry Mile (actually half a mile), The Peak District National Park

Bath (in Somerset): Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, The Royal Crescent (Georgian townhouses), Pulteney Bridge and the River Avon. Thermae Bath Spa with rooftop pool, Jane Austen Centre.

Oxford: Oxford University Colleges, Bodleian Library, the Radcliffe Science Library,
Ashmolean Museum, Botanic Garden (dates back to 1621).

Cambridge: the University of Cambridge, King’s College Chapel, Fitzwilliam Museum, and punting on the River Cam.

York: A city in North Yorkshire, York is known for its rich history and stunning architecture. It’s often claimed to be the most beautiful city in England. Some of the must-visit tourist sites include the York Minster, York Castle Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre, and The Shambles (perhaps one of the best-preserved medieval streets in the world. The Shambles is known for its narrow, cobbled lanes and overhanging timber-framed buildings).

Liverpool: The Beatles Story, Albert Dock, the Tate Liverpool, Liverpool Cathedral (gothic), Anfield Stadium: Take a stadium tour and experience the home of Liverpool Football Club.Walker Art Gallery: Explore a diverse collection of European paintings and sculptures. The Cavern Club: Step into the legendary music venue where The Beatles performed in their early years.

Glasgow: Glasgow University (said to have inspired JK Rowling’s Hogwarts in the Harry Potter books), Buchanan Street, Glasgow Green & People’s Palace, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, The Riverside Museum, Glasgow Cathedral.

Cardiff: capital city of Wales. Cardiff Castle, Principality Stadium to watch a rugby match, Cardiff Bay and the Wales Millennium Centre,Llandaff Cathedral, Bute Park and the River Taff.

There are many other interesting cities to visit: Southampton, Bristol, Swansea, Newcastle, Birmingham, Truro, Canterbury and Salisbury to name but a few.

      I haven’t been to York yet. It’s strange that I grew up in the UK but there are many places I haven’t seen.
