stone – piedra / rock – roca / pebble – piedrecita, guijarro IDIOM: ‘You’re not the only pebble on the beach.’ – No eres el único
countryside – campo / field – campo / hill – colina / meadow – pradera
coast – costa / sea / ocean / beach / lighthouse – faro
gulf – golfo, Persian Gulf / bay – bahía / cove – cala / harbour – puerto (can be man-made or natural. Where ship can shelter from the weather and be stored – like a parking space for boats) / port – puerto (manmade for loading and unloading)
lake – lago / pond – estanque / swamp – pantano / puddle – charco
river – río / stream (riachuelo)

earth – suelo, terreno, barro / soil – tierra / ground – suelo / land – tierra, terreno / mud – barro / dirt – tierra

Translation

1. Esa pradera es muy bonita – That meadow is very nice

2. El faro se ve desde mi casa – The lighthouse can be seen from my home (house)

3. Nunca he estado en el desierto – I’ve never been to the desert

4. Vamos a las dunas – Let’s go to the dunes

5. Hay piedrecitas (guijarros) en el río – There are pebbles in the river

6. El jardín está lleno de barro – The garden is full of mud

7. Vimos una cueva muy antigua – We saw a very old cave

8. Era una mina de oro – It was a gold mine

9. El estanque estaba seco – The pond was dry
