Maybe you believe that the Bible is a holy book handed down from God. Perhaps you think it was written by men and based on ancient scripts. Whatever you believe, most people would agree that there are many words of wisdom to be found in the pages of the holy scriptures. In this episode we’ll uncover some of them.

Wisdom from the bible

An eye for eye, a tooth for a tooth
Meaning: Whatever wrongdoing someone perpetrates will be perpetrated against them in revenge

Cast the first stone
Meaning: Don’t judge or punish others if you have done wrong yourself.

Love your neighbour as yourself
Meaning: Treat others the way you want to be treated.

The truth will set you free
Meaning: Being honest can help you feel safe and happy.

Live by the sword, die by the sword
Meaning: If you live by violence, you will die through violence

Turn the other cheek
Meaning: Don’t fight back when someone hurts you; forgive them.

Man shall not live by bread alone
Meaning: People need more than food; they need love, faith, and purpose.

Faith can move mountains
Meaning: Believing strongly can help you achieve difficult things.

Pride goes before a fall
Meaning: Being too proud can lead to failure.

Blessed are the meek (for they shall inherit the Earth)
Meaning: People who are humble and gentle will be happy.

The wages of sin is death
Meaning: Doing wrong leads to bad results.

Out of the mouths of babes
Meaning: Children can sometimes speak the truth in a simple way.

Seek and ye (you) shall find
Meaning: If you look for truth or help, you will find it.

You cannot serve two masters
Meaning: You cannot focus on two opposite things at the same time.

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak
Meaning: You may want to do good, but sometimes your body or habits stop you.

God helps those who help themselves
Meaning: Be pro-active rather than passive when you want something to happen
