In today’s podcast, you’ll learn about the 9 personality types in the Enneagram test which might or might not help you understand yourself, and those around you, a bit better.
Are you a reformer, a helper, an achiever or any of the other 6 personality types? Maybe you’re a combination of more than one.

I would rather / I prefer

I’d rather + base verb (without to) – I’d rather eat pizza than cook.
I’d prefer + to + verb – I’d prefer coffee to tea.
Both mean almost the same, but “I’d rather” is more common in everyday speech

What personality traits do you like about yourself/other people? What traits annoy you in others?

The most popular personality tests include the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the Big Five Personality Test (or OCEAN model), the Enneagram, and the DISC assessment.

Discussion

Some people say personality tests are more like entertainment than science. Do you agree or disagree?
Would you always give the same answer to every question in a personality test, or does it depend on your mood or situation at the time?
Do you think our personalities change as we get older?
Do we reveal the same aspects of our personality equally to different people we know or meet?
Do you believe multiple personality disorder (dissociative identity disorder) really exists?

…and now it’s your turn to practise your English. Which personality type are you? How would you describe yourself? How accurate do you think personality tests are?
