    I told my wife I was leaving her and she turns around and tells me to close the door on my way out!
  3. It’s about time (too) / It’s high time – It’s overdue, but it’s finally happening
    It’s about time he got married. He’s been living with his parents for too long.
    Reza said he’d definitely be here at 10:30 but he’s just arriving now at 10:50 and it’s about time too!

  1. For want of a better word – If you say something for want of something else, you say it because the other thing is not suitable.
    Politicians should behave, for want of a better word, decently.
  2. Good to go / all set (to go) – prepared and ready to leave or do something
    We have all the tools and supplies we need, so we’re good to go/all set.
    Let me grab a jacket and then I’m good to go.
  3. To make do – to manage to live without things that you would like to have or with things of a worse quality than you would like
    There isn’t a lot of bread for the sandwiches, but we’ll make do.
    We didn’t have cupboards, so we made do with boxes.
  4. to kiss something goodbye – accept the loss of something.
    I can kiss my career goodbye after losing that client.
    If Arsenal lose this game, they can kiss their chances of winning the league goodbye.
  5. All things being equal / other things being equal / all other things being equal – if everything happens as expected
    All things being equal, I’ll be at home on Tuesday.
    All things being equal, a person with a PhD should be getting a higher salary than someone with only a master’s degree.
