Different Roads
Path – narrow, for pedestrians; metaphorical.
Trail – adventurous path, perhaps not well marked
Lane – small, unimportant street, urban or rural; marked part of a road designed to be wide enough for one vehicle
Bus lane, bike/cycle lane, taxi lane, etc.
Road – anything that connects two points
Way – small side road off of a road
Street – public roads with buildings
Avenue – run perpendicular (90 degrees) to streets
Drive – winding
Boulevard – lined with trees
Dual carriageway – a road with a dividing strip between the traffic in opposite directions and usually two or more lanes in each direction.
Motorway – autopista (toll road) or autovía / Highway (US) – more than one lane
Expressway / freeway (US) – wider than a highway
Main road – important thoroughfare in a town or connecting two towns
Country road – unimportant road in the countryside, not a main road, secondary road
Backstreet – street away from the main thoroughfares

Pelican crossing – a zebra crossing but with traffic lights

Tailgate – drive aggressively too close behind enough car
